RECOMMENDATIONS:
ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 26385 to add (1) one Senior Deputy County Administrator - Exempt (ADD9) position at salary plan B85-1978 ($12,263.47-$19,024.66) and cancel (1) one Senior Deputy County Administrator (ADDH) (position #291) at salary plan and grade B85-1978 ($12,263.47-$19,024.66) in the County Administrator's Office.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal impact.
BACKGROUND:
The County Administrator's Office received notification from an employee of a transfer to the Health Services department resulting in the need to conduct a recruitment process to backfill the upcoming vacancy. In 2022, the County Administrator's Office worked with the Human Resources department to complete a holistic review of its job classifications to ensure a clear career path for employees. This included transitioning certain executive level management positions within the office from the merit system to being exempt from the merit system on a prospective basis. This requires the department to return to the Board to cancel existing, vacant merit-system positions and add the new merit-system exempt positions to effectuate this transition over time through attrition.
Today's action is administrative in nature and replaces a legacy Senior Deputy County Administrator position with a new Senior Deputy County Administrator-Exempt position, which will allow the next incumbent to occupy a position created within the new job classification series. This action has no fiscal impact as both job classifications have the same salary range on the salary schedule.
