Report Title: Contract with MCI Sales and Service, Inc. for Motor Coach and Transit Buses Maintenance and Repair Services, Countywide.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a contract with MCI Sales and Services, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $300,000, to provide motor coach and transit buses maintenance and repair services for the period of May 1, 2026 through April 30, 2031, Countywide.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Fleet Internal Service Fund
BACKGROUND:
Public Works Fleet Services oversees maintenance and repair operations for more than 1,700 vehicles, including several motor coach buses utilized by the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office to transport prisoners monthly between the Bay Area and Los Angeles.
MCI Sales and Services, Inc. provide vehicle-specific tools, OEM parts, specialized equipment, and qualified technicians necessary to maintain and repair these vehicles. As the only local dealership with the capability to service this type of equipment, the contract was procured through a sole source process.
Fleet Services is requesting approval of a service contract with MCI Sales and Services, Inc. for the term May 1, 2026 through April 30, 2031 in the amount of $300,000.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Without approval of this contract, there will be no vendor available to service and repair motor coach and transit buses, which would disrupt fleet operations, Countywide.
