Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to accept a donation in the amount of $45,000 from the California Municipal Finance Authority to support the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Approval of this request will result in $45,000 in restricted donation revenue.

BACKGROUND:

The Board of Directors of the California Foundation for Stronger Communities, a California non-profit public benefit corporation, acts as the Board of Directors for the California Municipal Finance Authority (“CMFA”). The CMFA is a Joint Powers Authority created to strengthen local communities by assisting with the financing of economic development and charitable activities throughout the State of California. With the goal of giving back to California communities, the CMFA assists local governments, non-profits, and businesses with the issuance of taxable and tax-exempt financing aimed at improving the standard of living in California. The contribution by the CFSC is a direct result of the financing facilitated by the CMFA.

This donation is intended to support the overall operations of the Search and Rescue team. It may be used for equipment, supplies, or any other resources necessary to carry out their missions effectively.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If the board does not vote in favor, the Contra Costa County Search and Rescue team will miss out on the monetary donation and the chance to purchase additional desired equipment.
