Referral History:
Though there have been several cycles of the AHSC program, this is the first time the grant program will be discussed at TWIC. However, DCD staff regularly presents grant proposals to TWIC for review prior to their submission to the grant administering agency.
Referral Update:
On March 25, 2025, the California Strategic Growth Council (SGC) and the California Department of Housing and Community Development issued a Notice of Funding Availability for Round 9 of the Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) program. The ASHC program provides funding for affordable housing developments that support sustainable communities. A key component of the AHSC program is including projects that achieve greenhouse gas emissions reductions to benefit communities throughout California, particularly through increasing accessibility to affordable housing and to vital community amenities and resources via low-carbon transportation, resulting in fewer vehicle miles traveled through shortened or reduced trip length or mode shift from single occupancy vehicle use to riding transit, bicycling, or walking.
