RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a construction permit with Contra Costa Water District (CCWD) for ingress/egress to Pomo Street bridge (Bridge No.28C0480) for cleaning and re-painting as part of the Bridge Preventive Maintenance Project, Bay Point area. (County Project No.: 0662-6R4091) (District V)
FISCAL IMPACT:
Estimated permit cost: $6,800, 88.5% Highway Bridge Program Funds and 11.5% Local Road Funds.
BACKGROUND:
The permit is needed to provide the County and its contractors with temporary access to CCWD and the United States Bureau of Reclamation property to conduct preventative maintenance work on the Pomo Street Bridge as part of the Bridge Preventative Maintenance Project. The proposed work consists of cleaning and painting portions of the Pomo Street Bridge and is needed to extend the life of the bridge.
As a condition of the permit, CCWD is requiring County to indemnify CCWD from liabilities arising out of the County’s operations under the permit.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If the permit is not approved, County will not be able to access the subject property to perform preventive maintenance on the bridge.
