RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute on behalf of the Health Services Director, an amendment to purchase order #29955 with Arthrex, Inc. to increase the payment limit by $320,000 to a new amount not to exceed $1,220,000 for instruments, implants, and supplies at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) with no change to the original term ending January 31, 2027.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this action will result in additional expenditures of up to $320,000 and will be funded by Hospital Enterprise Fund I revenues.
BACKGROUND:
Arthrex, Inc. provides instruments, implants, supplies, and biologics that are necessary for arthroscopic surgeries for better outcomes for our patients. Orthopedic supplies play a critical role in the success and efficiency of orthopedic surgeries by providing specialized tools, ensuring proper patient positioning, protecting soft tissues, and facilitating the use of implants and prosthetics. Having a well-equipped Operating Room (OR) with orthopedic supplies is essential for the safety and effectiveness of orthopedic procedures.
Due to an increase in sales, purchase order (PO) #29955 has been exhausted of available funds. Since the OR is averaging approximately $22,000 in monthly expenditures, it is necessary to increase the funding on the existing PO to ensure uninterrupted service and the continued operation of surgical supplies.
On March 19, 2024, the Board of Supervisors approved agenda item C.48 to execute purchase order #29955 with Arthrex, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $900,000 to procure instruments, implants, and supplies for the OR department at CCRMC for the period from February 1, 2024, through January 21, 2027.
