RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Syserco, Inc., effective January 31, 2026, to increase the payment limit by $1,000,000 to a new payment limit of $3,500,000, increase the rates, update the scope of services, and extend the term through January 31, 2027, for building automation maintenance and repair services at various County sites and facilities, Countywide.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Facilities Maintenance Budget. (100% General Fund)
BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Department Facilities Services Division is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of all County facilities building automation systems. The County uses Alerton building automation systems to remotely control heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems at various facilities throughout the County. Syserco, Inc. has been established as a sole source vendor for Alerton products.
Government Code Section 31000 authorizes the County to contract for services including the type of building automation system services that Syserco, Inc. provides. The Public Works Department originally awarded a three (3) year contract for $2,500,000 with the term February 1, 2023 through January 31, 2026.
Amendment No. 1, effective April 1, 2025, increased the rates according to the terms of the contract. Facilities Services is requesting Amendment No. 2 to be approved, increasing the payment limit by $1,000,000 to a new payment limit of $3,500,000, increasing the rates, updating the scope of services, and extending the term through January 31, 2027.
