RECOMMENDATIONS:

ADOPT Traffic Resolution No. 2024/4543 to restrict U-turns on Charbray Street (Road No. 5525CM), at the intersection of Enderby Street (Road No. 5525CT) and Massara Street (Road No. 5525CN), as recommended by the Public Works Director, Danville area.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No fiscal impact.

BACKGROUND:

The Transportation Engineering Division was contacted by a resident stating that drivers making U-turns on Charbray Street at the intersections of Enderby Street and Massara Street during school drop-off and pick-up times do not stop for pedestrians waiting to cross or are crossing Charbray Street. The citizen has requested that U-turns be restricted at these two intersections on Charbray Street. Subsequently, the Transportation Engineering staff conducted an investigation at the two intersections and observed numerous encounters whereby motorists were not yielding to pedestrians within the crosswalks.

The Transportation Engineering Division recommends that U-turns be restricted, and signs be erected indicating that U-turns are restricted on Charbray Street at the intersections of Enderby Street and Massara Street.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

U-turn movements will not be restricted at these locations.
