RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute on behalf of the Health Services Director, a one-time purchase order with Herc Rentals Inc. in an amount not to exceed $8,000, and ACCEPT Terms and Conditions of Sales for the purchase of a Master Lift 12-foot Drivable Battery-Powered Mast Lift for Contra Costa Public Health.

FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this action will result in a one-time expenditure of up to $8,000 and will be funded 100% by the Public Health Division budgeted General Fund.

BACKGROUND:
Contra Costa Public Health seeks to purchase a 12-foot drivable, battery-powered mast lift to provide staff with a safe and efficient option for storing and accessing program materials and supplies stored on shelving at Public Health’s 2731 Systron Drive, Concord office. The unit’s compact dimensions allow it to maneuver easily between shelving rows. The lift provides a maximum platform height of approximately 11.417 feet and a working height of up to 17.417 feet, ensuring safe access to overhead storage and elevated work areas.

This purchase is governed by Herc Rentals Inc.’s Terms and Conditions of Sales, which limit their liability for damages or loss of profits. It also requires agreeing to indemnify and hold Herc Rentals harmless from any claims, expenses, liabilities, or damages resulting from personal injury or property damage related to the Equipment, its use, operation, or failure to operate.

Approval of this request will enable Public Health staff to safely store and access program supplies stored on shelving in a safe manner that complies with Contra Costa’s Ladder Safety Program.
