Report Title:                     REJECT bids and RE-ADVERTISE the 2024 On Call Grinding Services Contract(s) for Various Road Maintenance Work, Countywide.

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

 

RECOMMENDATIONS:

REJECT all bids received on April 16, 2024, for the 2024 On Call Grinding Services Contract(s) for Various Road Maintenance Work, and ORDER any bid bonds posted by the bidders to be exonerated and any checks or cash submitted for security shall be returned, and

 

AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to re-advertise the 2024 On Call Grinding Services Contract(s) for Various Road Maintenance Work. (County Project No.: 0672-6U2123-24) (All Districts)

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The contracts, for a maximum amount of $200,000 each, will be funded by 100% Local Road Funds.

 

BACKGROUND:

The above project was previously approved by the Board of Supervisors, plans and specifications were filed with the Board, and bids were invited by the Public Works Director. On April 16, 2024, the Public Works Department received bids from the following contractors:

 

BIDDER, TOTAL UNIT AMOUNT

 

Anrak Corporation, $7,700.00 Total Unit Price

 

Pavement Recycling Systems, Inc., $8,100.00 Total Unit Price

 

ABSL Construction, $8,780.00 Total Unit Price

 

The Public Works Director recommends that the Board of Supervisors exercise its discretion to reject all bids pursuant to the Notice to Bidders; and authorize the Public Works Director to re-advertise the above project, with new bids to be received on or about May 21, 2024.

 

The general prevailing rates of wages, which shall be the minimum rates paid on this project, have been filed with the Clerk of the Board, and copies will be made available to any party upon request.

 

 

 

 

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The Public Works Department may be unable to complete routine road maintenance work in a timely manner.
