RECEIVE public report of litigation settlement agreements that became final during the period March 1, 2026, through March 31, 2026.

Settlement amounts are listed below.

 

BACKGROUND:

 

Two agreements to settle pending litigation, as defined in Government Code section 54956.9, became final during the period March 1, 2026, through March 31, 2026.

 

Ziad Abunie, et al. v. County of Contra Costa, Contra Costa County Superior Court, Case No. C24-01881: On December 9, 2025, the Board of Supervisors approved a settlement in this dangerous condition of roadway case.  The Board approved the settlement for $75,000 in closed session by a vote of 5-0.  The settlement agreement was fully executed on March 17, 2026.  The funding source is the County’s Risk Management Liability Internal Service Fund.

 

Magic Hampton v. County of Contra Costa, et al., Contra Costa County Superior Court, Case No. C24-02960:  On March 3, 2026, the Board of Supervisors approved a settlement in this employment discrimination case.  The Board approved the settlement for $865,000 in closed session by a vote of 5-0 .  The settlement agreement was fully executed on March 6, 2026.  The funding source is Risk Management Liability Internal Service Fund.

 

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

 

The report would not be accepted.
