Discussion was held.
Public comment was received.
The Subcommittee discussed the client feedback timeline and proposed conducting
focus groups in April in recognition of National Reentry Month. They plan to use
findings from the in-custody survey to develop targeted focus group questions.
The goal is to release the in-custody survey in early November, before
Thanksgiving, or by early December. The survey will be available on tablets, with
paper copies provided for individuals on disciplinary status. The survey will remain
open for approximately one month, though the timeline may be adjusted to ensure
data analysis is completed by January.
7.
Brainstorm Future Service Models Ideas.
Discussion was held.
Public comment was received.
The Subcommittee discussed various service models, including those grounded in restorative
principles, point-in-time storytelling, and trade and employment support. Additional ideas
included family-centered events like father daughter days held within correctional facilities,
incorporating equestrian trades and therapy, providing legal and firefighting training
opportunities, and offering family engagement and whole family support services. Other
models mentioned included creative workforce pathways such as advertising, acting or stage
production. The Subcommittee also noted international examples, highlighting that countries
like Switzerland and the United Kingdom have more advanced restorative justice practices and
lower incarceration rates.
