The Board received a presentation from the Contra Costa Workforce Development
Board on the county’s AB 109 Pathway Pilot Program. Board members inquired
about how participants are prepared for the program, how lived experiences are
integrated, and whether trauma-informed and spiritual support components are
included. They also requested data on vacancy trends, wage levels, and whether
participants can remain in positions beyond the program timeline, potentially with
county-subsidized wages to ensure a livable income. Additional questions focused
on inter-agency collaboration, participant intake and selection processes,
wraparound services, and how the program addresses barriers to employment.
Presenters expressed their willingness to return to CAB with data on program
outcomes, successes, and challenges.
